Final Thoughts

Final Unit

Entering finals week I spent less time on Chemistry and focused a bit more on my biology side of things. I finished my geology final online during the weekend before finals week and finished the class with an A. I turned my attention on Tuesday to Chemistry review and began reviewing past tests and handouts to get ready for the final. I calculated my grade going into the final and I only need a 50% on the final to finish the class with an A. Looking back on the semester I am really excited about the amount of support I have received from my classmates and study group. We motivated each other to get in the library, work hard and learn a lot, and to just talk about chemistry and our education as a whole together. That was probably one of my favorite parts. The camaraderie and the conversations we had about chemistry and other classes.

We all got together in the morning before our final and worked on our final learning journals (hello!), reviewed some problems together, asked each other questions, and worked on our sheet of notes for the final. It was one last group session for the semester and even though it was hard work and studying, I realized I really enjoyed getting to the library with my team and I would miss it over the summer.

Reflecting back on the semester is difficult. I find I am so excited about the progress and success I’ve had this semester that I keep looking forward to the summer and the fall semester. I’m ready to move forward, but I have to remember to focus on finishing the process for this semester.

For my final sheet of notes, I broke the sheet down into the four units of the semester and focused on the equations first. I made sure I had all of the equations we used throughout the semester. Then I moved on to concepts and wrote notes about how the equations related to the real world and prepared for questions that would be asked about conceptual chemistry. I knew that since it was a multiple choice test that a lot of questions that would be conceptual. The mathematical questions could be an issue since there is no way to get partial credit if I mess up one step, so nailing the conceptual questions could really help my test score.

I’m ready to complete this part of the process and move forward with my education!
